NB keeping an eye on illegal immigration

MPs in New Brunswick ridings that border the United States are watching if the number of illegal aliens walking across the border from the U.S. will grow when the snow melts and a new Trump travel ban is put in place.

Refugee claims made by people trying to enter New Brunswick from the states were the highest in nearly ten years, last year; with 23 refugee claimants.

Dealing with illegal immigration

The RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency both say they do have the resources now to deal with the number of refugees from the U-S seeking asylum.  But they are also considering what will happen if hubndreds of asylum seekers now turns into thousands trying to cross the border when the warmer weather comes.

Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale expects the Mounties and C-B-S-A will let his department know what they need.
