Fraud prevention warning

March is Fraud Prevention Month and the RCMP are reminding you about a common scam.

It involves fraudsters posing as reps of the Canada Revenue Agency.

People get calls, emails; text messages and letters from fraudsters demanding personal and banking information.

Usually, scammers promise a refund or threaten arrest if you don’t pay up.

If you get such a call, hang up and report it to:  antifraudcentre.ca

CBRM intersection study

CBRM is looking at a notorious intersection in Sydney.

There are five lanes of traffic and no signals at Prince and Inglis streets.  It’s near a school, the Kiwanis Pool, the Sydney Shopping Centre and a seniors club, so there are a lot of people trying to cross the street.  Even with a crossing guard for the school, it is difficult according to Police  Sargent Joe Farrell. He says there have been several car-pedestrian accidents there and one fatality.

CBRM is now studying whether traffic lights are needed.
