CAO Resignation

Mayor Cecil Clarke and members of the CBRM Council received notice yesterday of the resignation of Chief Administrative Officer Michael Merritt, who after almost three years of service will be leaving to return to his family in Alberta.

Mr. Merritt will remain CAO of the municipality until Jun. 30. During this time, CBRM Mayor and Council will begin the process of hiring a new Chief Administrative Officer.

Kaetlyn Osmond

A world-class figure skater with Newfoundland roots has claimed silver medal in the women’s competition at the World Figure Skating Championships in Helsinki.

Marystown native, Kaetlyn Osmond finished in a strong second place at the championships with a score of 218.13.

Osmond placed behind Russia’s Evgenia Medvedeva (Med-vah-day-vah) who won gold with a score of 233.41.

Another Canadian will share the podium with Osmond, as Ontario’s Gabrielle Daleman took bronze with a score of 213.52.
