Greenfield aircraft incident

The pilot managed to walk away from the crash of an ultralight plane on the south shore, or rather climb down from the top of a tree.

The Transportation Safety Board and Transport Canada are incvestigating after the plane ended up in the top of a Hemlock Tree shortly after taking off from the airfield in Greenfield.  The pilot wasn’t injured.  There’s no word on the cause of the crash.

Three candidates asked for recounts in their ridings before the deadline to file yesterday.

The NDP’s Denise Peterson-Rafuse wants a recount in Chester-St. Margaret’s which she lost to Liberal Hugh MacKay by 90 votes.  P-C candidate Dan McNaughton was defeated by Liberal Bill Horne in Waverley-Fall River-Beaverbank by 66 votes.  Another Conservative Rob Wolf wants a recount in Guysborough-Eastern Shore-Tracadie, which was won by Liberal Lloyd Hines.
