Federal Liberal Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan says the military has been hollowed out by years of underfunding, but didn’t say how Ottawa plans to fix it.

Sajjan told a defence industry audience status quo spending on defence will not even maintain a status quo of capabilities.  The Liberals are getting ready to announce their new defence policy, which he claims will begin to address the problem.

Police in Belize have questioned a few people in the murders of a Canadian woman and her American boyfriend there last week.

The bodies of Francesca Matus and Drew DeVoursney were found Monday in a sugar cane field.  They were last seen leaving a bar together Tuesday night of last week.

While some people have been questioned there have been no arrests.
