The RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency both say they do have the resources now to deal with the number of refugees from the U-S seeking asylum. But they are also considering what will happen if hubndreds of asylum seekers now turns into thousands trying to cross the border when the warmer weather comes.
Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale expects the Mounties and C-B-S-A will let his department know what they need.
Finance Minister Bill Morneau will table his new budget in Ottawa March 22nd.
This year’s is tougher given the uncertainty over plans by the Trump administration, but Morneau insists the government will continue building on the plan laid out in the last budget.
The trouble is that Canada could face a border tax, protectionist policies; corporate and personal tax cuts and a renegotiated NAFTA which would pose an economic danger to this country.
