Windsor sex case appeal

Garnett Frederick Smith of Windsor,  was due to be sentenced in April for sex-related offences involving children is looking to dispute the guilty verdict.

His lawyer, Tim Peacock; says that his client would be seeking a constitutional challenge to the guilty verdict handed down in February.

He was found guilty of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching; exposing his genital organs and sexual assault of a minor.

Smith remains under release conditions.

Hacker arrested in Ontario

An Ontario man, originally from Kazakhstan; has been arrested in connection with the U-S investigation into a massive cyber attack on Yahoo three years ago.

22 year-old Karim Baratov was arrested outside Hamilton at the request of American officials.  He’s accused of being one of the hackers involved in the security breach, along with two Russian intelligence officers.  500 million user accounts belonging to American government officials, Russian journalists opposed to Vladimir Putin; and ordinary email users were affected.
