NS Affordable housing

Provincial taxpayer’s and the CMHC are providing $7.8 million so more seniors, people with disabilities; and low-income homeowners can stay in their homes longer.

The money will go to bolstering existing home repair and adaptation programs with the Homeowner Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program getting the most at $6.9 million.  Eligible repairs may include structural, electrical; plumbing, heating and fire safety.  Homeowners’ eligibility will be assessed on their income and in some case the value of their home.

Brexit

Yesterday marked the beginning of the exit of Britain from the E-U. It’ll be out two years from now.

Antonio Tajani, the President of the European Parliament; warned Britain it must respect its treaty obligations until the last day of its membership.  He said they must finalize an agreement on much money London owes before they can even talk about trade and other issues.  That could total up to $63 million.  British Prime Minister Theresa May isn’t saying how much her country will pay, except that it will no longer make substantial payments to the E-U.
