It sent letters to about 700 people in 2012 saying their information had been inappropriately accessed by an employee. A trial was set for this month, but now a settlement approval hearing will be held next Thursday.

Corporate Research Associates has released a new survey on core Canadian values for Atlantic residents. A majority agrees that each of nine values in the study are core. Respect for those with disabilities and freedom of speech had the highest percentage of those in complete agreement, at 69% and 63% respectively. Bilingualism got the lowest support of that kind at 31%. Freedom of religion, gender equality, respect for cultural differences, democracy, freedom of assembly or association, and support for the economically disadvantaged were also covered.
