Fall River quarry

The province has approved a controversial quarry near Fall River.

The Environment Department granted approval to Scotian Materials Ltd. for a four-hectare quarry.  The 10 year approval includes clauses to reduce the environmental impact and protect public health.

Liberal MLA Bill Horne, who represents the area, was disappointed and says he will ensure Scotian Materials is in full compliance with those terms and conditions.

Pot laws

Grass will be legal in Canada next July, no matter what.

Some provinces have expressed concerns Ottawa is moving too quickly and want more time to get ready, but Finance Minister Bill Morneau says the feds are sticking to the guideline of July 1st next year.
