A majority of Atlantic Canadians support the federal government screening potential immigrants for Canadian values. The latest Corporate Research Associates survey had 68% completely or mostly in favour, with 26% completely or mostly opposed. 6% don’t know or didn’t say, with the overall level of support consistent across provinces.

Province announces changes to Human Rights Act
The province has introduced changes to the Human Rights Act. Among other things they’ll modernize the definition of mental disability, correct inconsistencies between the English and French versions of the act; and add two new prohibited grounds of discrimination and exceptions, “family status” and “gender identity or expression”.
