NS Disaster Funding

The province is still waiting for cheques from Ottawa for disaster assistance, dating back to 2010.

E-M-O boss Andrew Lathem told the legislature’s public accounts committee that the Feds still owe the province money for floods in Meat Cove in 2010 and Truro in 2014.  Lathem says recouping disaster funds usually takes some time because Ottawa usually does several audits of claims to make sure they’re genuine.

Citizenship Bill

Immigration minister Ahmed Hussen says he’ll consider amendments to allow an appeal process in immigration cases where people with dual citizenships are stripped of their Canadian citizenship.

Hussen says he believes the legislation passed by the former Conservative government is sound, even though there’s no guarantee of an appeal for someone losing their citizenship.
