New telecom rules

Prime Minister Trudeau has flatly rejected a tax on internet service, and the government is changing the rules to make cellphone rules more customer friendly.

For instance, come December; all new cellphones will be unlocked, and telecoms will have to unlock phones free of charge if a customer wants to change carriers.  That will allow for more flexibility because customers won’t be tethered to providers because of the fees to leave, and should spark more competition.
