Charges Dismissed

A charge against a police officer of uttering a threat has been dismissed.

41 year old Constable Wade Lavin of Howie Centre is still facing judgement however on other charges. The judge will rule March 23rd on identity theft, forgery and other counts.

Lavin, who is still under suspension, was charged after he sent emails to media outlets alleging a misuse of credit cards by senior management in the police department. He also expressed concerns why 13 management personnel have assigned vehicles but rank and file officers sometimes have to scramble to find a car or have to use their own.

Wildlife Crime

A three-week investigation has uncovered significant wildlife crime around the world, including in Canada.

The Canadian at the head of the wildlife crimes working group for Interpol says the group launched Operation Thunderbird in January.

Working with law enforcement in 43 countries, Sheldon Jordan says they made 13-hundred seizures worldwide.

Those included the hides of polar bears and other animals, as well as walrus ivory.
