CBVRSD suicide concerns

There have been three suicides of students in the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School District in the last six months.

The School Board is concerned and has written a letter to the province asking for more help for students with mental health issues, especially with the school year drawing to a close.  There won’t be any help from the schools for troubled teens during the summer months.

There have also been two suicides at Sherwood Park Education Centre, and a 13 year old girl took her own life in Sydney Mines on the weekend.  Parents Chris Royal and Amylynn Wilson said their 13 year old daughter Madison Wilson was cyberbullied and taunted by other students at Sydney Mines Junior High and finally ended it all.  They say there need to be tougher consequences for bullies and more monitoring of children.

The Trudeau Grits restrict C-SIS’s ability regarding terrorism

The Trudeau Government has introduced long-awaited security legislation after consulting with tens of thousands of Canadians.

The bill would limit the ability of the Canadian Security Agency to disrupt terrorist plots, but would also give it the power to conduct its own  cyberattacks against foreign targets.

The bill would also set up a new watchdog to bring all security services, including the military; under one umbrella.
