Dead Fish

A retired scientist has enlisted the help of local naturalists to help solve the mystery of dead fish washing up on Nova Scotia’s rocky western shore.

Ted Leighton has compiled more than 40 sightings since dead and dying herring started appearing in St. Marys Bay in November.

Federal scientists say they have yet to determine what’s causing the phenomenon, despite extensive tests.

Federal officials are warning people not to handle the fish, mainly as a precaution.
