PM meets with teepee activists

Prime Minister Trudeau and his wife Sophie met with the Indigenous activists who set up a teepee on Parliament Hill. They says they will hold Trudeau to his promise to abolish the Indian Act and make things right for First Nations.

Trudeau told them Ottawa needs their partnership in ending the Indian Act and there’s a lot of work ahead of them.

Exec.Dir. of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women inquiry resigns

The executive director of the inquiry into murdered and missing indigenous women Michele Moreau has resigned. She is saying it’s for personal reasons and will be effective July 21.

Some First Nations leaders have complained they haven’t been adequately consulted about hearings and are critial of the progress so far.

The Chief commissioner Marion Buller said the resignation was met with sadness and promised improved communication.
