Hampton parking concerns

A request by the owner of Kredl’s Corner market to Hampton town council regarding parking issues has been kicked to the curb.

During the last fall craft fair at the market, people ignored the no-parking signs along the roadway.

Dave Wolpin wanted the no-parking signs to be covered on Pickwauket on the craft fair weekends and asked the town to lend him 100 traffic cones to put on Main Street to prevent cars from parking there.

The request was denied as the town wants to ensure plans are technically legal and safe.

Council does say the town will work with him to find a suitable solution to the problem.

Mexican migration

There’s an increasing number of Mexicans seeking asylum in Canada.

New figures from the Immigration and Refugee Board show that March recorded the highest number yet of new claims so far this year, 110 compareed to 85 in February and 71 in January.  That’s 266 in the first three months compared to 241 in all of last year.  One of the main reasons is Canada dropped the requirement for Mexicans to get a visa before coming here.
