BC blazes

Many of the 10,000 evacuees are being allowed back into their homes in Williams Lake, BC; but they are also being warned not to get too comfortable because they may have the evacuate again at a moment’s notice.

The wildfires near the community are not 100% contained and if the weather and winds change they could be forced out again.  They have also been warned the fires have profoundly affected the area.

Some critics want them all removed, but the Assembly of First Nations chiefs has rejected a call to replace all the Commissioners on the Inquiry into Murdered and Missing Indigenous Woman.

The Chief did pass a resolution at their annual meeting calling for some changes to its mandate.

Chief commissioner Marion Buller says the commitment to listening and acting on the advice from families, advisers and communities remains firm.
