Provincial funding for early childhood literacy

The province is investing more than $140,000 to help families encourage a love of reading at an early age. Premier Brian Gallant highlighted programs today in conjunction with New Brunswick Literacy Day.  Parents of newborns can get a free gift bag of books, which also have information describing and promoting the importance of early childhood literacy.  They’re available in either English or French.

UNB, Parks Canada team for summer program at Fortress Louisbourg

UNB and Parks Canada have teamed up to offer a bioarchaeology field program in Cape Breton this summer.  It’ll document, protect and preserve 18th-century burial grounds at the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, which are threatened by coastal erosion.  Students will help provide new insights into the population’s health and well-being during an important period in Canada’s history.
