Softwood Envoy

The New Brunswick government has appointed a former U-S ambassador to Canada to deal with the softwood lumber dispute.

David Wilkins served as ambassador to Canada from 2005 to 2009, when George W. Bush was president.

Wilkins is a lawyer and former state legislator from South Carolina.

He now leads an international law practice that focuses on U-S-Canada interests.

Spicey

Melissa McCarthy took to the streets of Manhattan Friday to lampoon White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

The comedian was captured on video riding a motorized podium while dressed as Spicer, presumably a sequence that will air when McCarthy hosts tonight’s “Saturday Night Live.”

In the video, McCarthy is seen gliding through traffic not far from Rockefeller Center, the home of N-B-C’s “Saturday Night Live.”
