The union that represents nine-thousand public school teachers in Nova Scotia says job action is likely to begin on December 5th. Contract talks between the Nova Scotia government and the union broke off Friday. The two sides agreed to meet this week with a conciliator ahead of a looming strike deadline. Nova Scotia Teachers Union president Liette Doucet says he’s disappointed they failed to reach an agreement.

Man Charged in Miramichi with Stealing Poppy Donation Box
Miramichi Police have arrested and charged a man accused of stealing a Poppy donation box earlier this month. 38-year-old Alfred Joseph Savoie was arrested by Miramichi Police earlier this week after being identified with help from the public. Savoie has since appeared in court and been charged with theft.
