The province says 779 teachers have applied to the Council to Improve Classroom Conditions. The nine who ultimately join will be chosen by school board superintendents, with the council itself formed by next Tuesday. It’ll have $20 million over two years to address classroom issues, including the student attendance policy, complex classrooms and class sizes.

Child porn, luring charges for Hatchet Lake man
A Hatchet Lake man is facing child luring charges after an investigation by the RCMP Integrated Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division.
On February 22, ICE executed a search warrant at a home in Hatchet Lake. As a result, 40-year-old Michael Ross Maddeaux was arrested without incident and is facing charges of Luring a Child and Possession of Child Pornography.
He was released from custody on conditions and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on May 1 at 9:30 a.m.
