Digby war portrait

A portrait of a First World War soldier that was found in Newfoundland with a Digby connection, has its owner trying to find out more.

Brendan Collins was going through classified ads when he came across an ad for a circular portrait photo.

He thought it was odd that something so personal would ever been sold in the first place.

He bought it for 150 dollars.

It’s a bubble glass portrait of a First World War soldier.

He found an address on the portrait for a Mrs. M.J. Nichols in Digby.

If you have any information, send a message to the Digby Courier Facebook page.

BC fire update

Some evacuees are being allowed back into their homes in British Columbia but 19,000 are still under orders to stay away.

An estimated 377,000 hectares of land has been scorched by the wildfires but damage to homes and businesses remains unclear.

Fire officials are warning people to be prepared to leave home again quickly, because the worst fires typically occur at the end of July.
