NB Court of Appeal overturns

A New Brunswick man’s sexual interference conviction has been overturned after his step-granddaughter said she was made to falsely accuse him. He was found guilty in 2011 when the then-12-year-old said he touched her multiple times. The New Brunswick Court of Appeal kiboshed that after affidavits revealed a bitter separation and family infighting led to this.

The New Brunswick Court of Appeal has overturned a woman’s drug trafficking conviction. Neisha Petitpas was denied her request to be tried in English. The preliminary inquiry was held in English, but the trial was in French. The appeal court says her right was violated for no obvious reason.

Refugees from the U-S seeking asylum in Manitoba are getting more help from that provincial government.
