Chicago beat the Sens 2 to 1.

The Jets doubled the Islanders 4 to 2.

The Oilers got past Boston 7 to 4.

It was the Stars over the Canucks 4 to 2.

NBA action had OK City over the Raptors 123 to 102.

The James M Hill boys hockey team lost a heart breaker in double OT to the visiting Acadiens 4-3 on Thursday night at the LBA.  The Tommies lead the best of 5 playoff series 2 games to 1 and will look to close out the series in the next game.

Noah Hallihan, Matt Carroll, and Andre Doucet scored for JMH while Andrew Lanteigne suffered the loss in goal.

The boys travel to Caraquet for game four Friday night for a 9 o’clock start.

Miramichi Timberwolves advance tickets for game 1 and 2 of Round 1 of the MHL Playoffs are on sale at the Miramichi Civic Center, starting this afternoon at 3.

UNB prof co-authors study on solar storms’ effect on Earth

A new study co-authored by a UNB professor shows eruptions on the sun’s surface not only contribute to the northern lights, but also disrupt radio communication and GPS systems on Earth.  Dr. Richard Langley and others found large sections of the Arctic ionosphere were left void of electrons after a solar storm. It could help further explain what causes blackouts in radio and satellite signals in the region, which limits air and marine travel.
