NS, NB; and PEI license changes

P.E.I. Nova Scotia; and New Brunswick are changing the way they issue driver’s licenses to upgrade security and increase uniformity.

Right now, provincial service centres print licenses on-site and drivers walk out with their new card in hand.

Under the new central-issuance system, people will have to wait seven to 10 days to receive their new ID’s in the mail.

The four provinces entered into a contract worth $11.5 million with Gemalto to produce licenses at a Burlington, Ont. plant.

Port Mouton free seafood

It was free lobster after 40,000 pounds of live crustacens spilled onto highway 103 near Port Mouton Saturday.  The truck carrying the lobster overturned.  The driver wasn’t injured but thousands of pounds of live lobster were strewn all over the road and ditches.  While crews saved some from the roadway, once the highway reopened police allowed anyone stopping by to collect some lobster, still very much alive and crawling around the ditches looking for water.
