A contagious bird infection is spreading through Atlantic Canada. The Nova Scotia Bird Society says finches are getting trichomoniasis, a throat infection that leaves them unable to swallow. President Dave Currie told CBC people should take down their feeders and bird baths for the summer, and clean them with a bleach solution that’s diluted.

Feds, Atlantic provinces teaming up for tourism campaign
The Atlantic provinces and Ottawa are teaming up for a tourism promotion. More than $24 million will be spent over three years, as announced at a meeting of federal ministers and Atlantic premiers. The campaign will target America, the UK, China and Germany, with the potential for 200 new businesses and about 6000 jobs.
