Bombardier backs down

Bombardier is bowing to public pressure and back off on massive 50 per cent raises for top executives.

C-E-O Alain Bellemare has asked the board of directors to defer about half the payouts until 2020.  And the outstanding compensation will only be paid if the aerospace and rail giant achieves performance objectives.

About 200 angry protesters gathered at the company’s Montreal head office to denounce the hefty packages in light of the company getting hundreds of millions of taxpayers dollars.

Columbia floods

Heavy raise caused three rivers to overflow and roar through Mocoa, a city of 40,000.  The death toll has climbed over 210, however; rescuers fear hundres more are missing or seriously injured.  Hundreds more are homeless.
