Transport Minister Marc Garneau issues a warning to domestic airlines

You’ve seen the video of a man being violently hauled off a United Airlines flight because the airline overbooked.

Now Transport Minister Marc Garneau has a tough message for airlines, don’t do that in Canada.  Garneau has sent a letter to all airlines operating in Canada that forcibly removing a passenger from an overbooked flight won’t be tolerated.  He called the incident appalling.

Mayors’ Task Force

The country’s Mayors’ Task Force is recommending Ottawa set a national standard on the collection and sharing of data on overdose deaths.

The painkiller fentanyl has been found to be the leading cause of soaring drug overdose deaths in a third of the cities represented by the task force.  The mayors say there has to be a better response to addictions and overdoses.
