Lobster Season Delayed in Northern NB

The start of the Northern New Brunswick spring lobster fishery has been delayed until tomorrow. Rough weather forecast for today and ice conditions in the region prompted the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to delay today’s scheduled start of the season for lobster fishing area 23 until Monday at 6am. The area encompasses Miramichi Bay up to Campbellton. Last summer the fishing area harvested an estimated 64-million-dollars worth of lobster.

Report Calls for Investment in East Coast Music Industry

A new report suggests that investing in Atlantic Canada’s music scene could mean profits for the region as a whole. The report calling for a comprehensive Atlantic music strategy was presented at the East Coast Music Awards in Saint John, New Brunswick. It says the East Coast’s music industry is hindered by a lack of infrastructure, stringent liquor laws and restrictions on live venues. The report recommends creating an Atlantic Canadian Music Fund to finance creativity in the region.
