Encorp Atlantic plans to launch projects to make bottle redemption easier for you.

Pierre Landry says customers around the province will eventually benefit from options being studied at some redemption centres.

The private company had a pilot project, in Moncton, unstaffed depots called “re-centres,” which were made out of shipping containers retrofitted with solar panels and doors.

Consumers were supplied with membership cards, which they used to gain access to the re-centre to drop off their beverage containers.

Reimbursements, using bar code stickers on the bags, followed either directly into bank accounts or by cheque.

Justice McLachlin steps down

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada is retiring.  Beverley McLachlin will step down in mid-December as the first female chief justice, and the longest serving.

Federal Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould says McLachlin should be celebrated for helping to frame Canada’s justice system.  Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says her judicial accomplishments are unparalleled.
