38% of New Brunswickers believe they’ve been approached with a fraudulent investment opportunity in the past year. New Financial and Consumer Services Commission data has a four percentage point increase on last year. The figures come as the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says New Brunswickers have been scammed out of almost $1 million this year.

Toxic algal bloom may have killed right whales
Experts say the deaths of at least six right whales may have been caused by a toxic algal bloom. Getting hit by ships or entangled in fishing gear are other possibilities for the carcasses found in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Officials are hoping to have post-mortems done on them.
