A right whale entangled in the Gulf of St. Lawrence has been freed. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration saw it on Wednesday, and DFO was among those who took part in the rescue. Results of the necropsies done on whales found dead in the Gulf are also pending.

Lions Club holds Charter Night
The Amherst Lions Club recently celebrated its 63rd Charter Night. Secretary Tim Ripley was named Lion of the Year, and Phil Baxter got a Melvin Jones Fellowship. He has chaired the Christmas for Kids campaign, and serves on the Lions Park committee with the town among other things.
