Comic-Con has given “Goosebumps” creator R-L Stine a surprise at his first trip to the San Diego event.

The 73-year-old author received the Inkpot Award, which honours contributions to comics, fantasy and sci-fi.

Past recipients include Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

Stine also announced a new line of “Goosebumps” comic books is in the works.

Rain has fallen on parts of BC but it doesn’t appear to have slowed the wildfires.

More than 45-thousand people have been displaced, and Ottawa is sending another 225 military members to help on the ground.  The fires have burned more than 35-hundred square kilometres of land.
