A pair of Maritimers narrowly missed the cut to become Canada’s next astronauts. Alex Delorey of Moncton and Michael Anthony Jordan from Halifax had been shortlisted from thousands of applicants to be among the final 17 candidates. However, neither made the final cut when Canada’s two new astronauts were announced during Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa yesterday. Another Dead Whale in Gulf of St.Lawrence
Another dead whale has been spotted off the coast of PEI. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans says a dead Fin whale was found during aerial patrols. The fin whale follows six dead endangered right whales that were discovered in the Gulf of St. Lawrence off Northern New Brunswick and Western PEI over the past month. Researchers have now conducted necropsies on three of the dead right whales but have not released their findings.Tissue samples were also collected for further analysis.
