CB Doctor’s Rally to Protest Service Cuts

Cape Breton physicians are voicing their concerns about the state of health care on the island. The Cape Breton Medical Staff Association has organized a rally for tomorrow to bring attention to the loss of health specialists in the area and the possible closure of a local hospital. Doctors say they have to send more patients to Halifax because services in Cape Breton have been hollowed out. They say they have lost vascular surgery services and thoracic surgery, and are facing a high concentration of people suffering from hepatitis C who have to go elsewhere for treatment.
