Possible VIA Rail service upgrades in NB and NS

Talks between VIA officials and the Halifax Chamber of Commerce went well, that; according to The Leader.

That means a daily passenger train between Campbellton and Moncton could start up in the near future.

A daily passenger train between Moncton and Halifax, is also possible.

Prior to 1990, VIA Rail ran from Montreal to Halifax seven times a week and there was also a daily commuter train between Campbellton and Moncton.

In 1990, the Halifax to Montreal route was cut to six times a week and the daily route between Campbellton and Miramichi was scrapped.

Then, in 2012; the Halifax to Montreal route was reduced to three times a week.
