Province improving support of sexual assault victims

The province will improve its support of women, children and other victims of sexual assault.  That includes hiring two special prosecutors to handle these cases, partnering with the federal government to provide free legal advice for victims, providing special training to Crown attorneys and ensuring police have what they need to investigate, and opening a new domestic violence court in Halifax, among other things.

Council to Improve Classroom Conditions set

The province’s Council to Improve Classroom Conditions has been set.  It has nine teachers chosen by school board superintendents, as well as a student, a parent, and a guidance counsellor appointed by the government.  The council will have $20 million over two years to address classroom issues including data collection, complex classrooms, class sizes and the student attendance policy.  Learn more at novascotia.ca/classroomcouncil.
