A Strait area man is facing donation charges

A Strait area man is facing five charges following allegations that he violated strict limits on political donations.

Canada’s elections watchdog alleges that Joseph Patrick Shannon of Port Hawkesbury exceeded contribution limits to various candidates and multiple parties between 2008 and 2015.  Statistics released by the agency show Shannon donated almost $22,000 during that time frame, 14 times to the Liberals; 8 times to the Tories, and twice to the N-D-P.

Awards for a hockey player from Windsor

Michael Dill of Windsor recently got the nod as Rookie of the Year in the MHL, and also got the award as the Maritime League’s scoring championship in 2016-2017.

He plays for the Pictou County Weeks Crushers.

The MHL champions will advance to the Fred Page Cup in Quebec.

A win there would put them in the Royal Bank Cup in Cornwall, Ontario for the Canadian Junior A Hockey Championship.
