CBRM investigation

The Nova Scotia Police Board is holding a hearing this week into the actions of Cape Breton Regional Police officers after a dispute between neighbours.

Stephanie Bonner and Edward O’Quinn of North Sydney filed a complaint against Constable John Campbell of making threats in January and February 2014 at their property in Sydney Forks.  It was during a dispute with neighbours over a right of way.  Campbell is related to the neighbours.

Bonner and O’Quinn were charged with mischief  and then criminal harrassment.  Bonner claims that Campbell said to her through a car window that she was dead.

NS electoral fight

Acadian Affairs Minister Michel Samson is wondering why the Acadian federation is threatening to take the riding boundary dispute to court.  It wants the boundaries change to reflect a court decision before an election is called.

Samson says that isn’t neccessary since the government and Acadian Federation have been talking and are close to a process to address those concerns.  The Federation says calling an election before the boundaries are settled would be unconstitutional, but Samson disagrees.
