Students deliver letter to Minister Regan for legislation to prevent sexual violence on campuses

A letter signed by over 650 post-secondary students and allies was delivered to Minister Kelly Regan this morning.  It demands provincial legislation to prevent sexual violence on campuses, and protect survivors.  The McNeil government previously blocked Bill 114, which would have required all post-secondary institutions to have sexual assault policies, publicly report on cases, provide support and report on their success in prevention.

Public meeting tonight at Dalbrae Academy

Bobby Morris, Co-Chair of the Dalbrae Feeder System Advocacy Committee (Save Bayview), congratulates the community volunteers and businesses who have stepped up to support the schools in Mabou, Whycocomagh and Port Hood while urging the public to come out to the final School Options Committee (SOC) meeting tonight at the Dalbrae Academy, Mabou.

After tonight’s public meeting the SOC will present its findings from the working meetings and community consultation to the elected board in hopes of displaying the impacts of school closure on learning outcomes and other impacts to our children. The board is expected to make its decision on closing school(s) or maintaining the status quo in about a month.
