Louisbourg and the CBVRSB

A group of parents in Louisbourg is hoping to work with the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional school board despite animosity in the past.

The Cape Breton Post reports Brett Hanham, of the George D. Lewis Gateway to Opportunities Society, invited board members to meet with his group and discuss how the school could be used for other community projects.  There has been some animosity between the two sides after the board rejected his group’s initial proposal.  That decision was overridden by Education Minister Karen Casey who approved a pilot project.   Now Hanham says they are trying to mend fences.

NS softwood situation

Provincial Trade Minister Michel Samson doesn’t think Nova Scotia mills will be on a list of softwood lumber tariffs expected from the Trump administration today.

Samson says the American lumber lobby has exempted Nova Scotia from its list of targets for the 20% duty as it has in the past.  But he also told CBC it’s not clear whether the Trump administration will go along with that recommendation.
