Pen time for a Sydney man

A Sydney man has been given federal time in prison for drug trafficking.

28 year old Thomas Douglas Worthington was given three years after admitting to charges involving cocaine, marijuana and hash, told the court he’d only been in the drug business for nine months.

Charges against his co-accused, 27-year-old Shyanne Stevens, were withdrawn after his guilty plea.

H.M. MacDonald Elementary status

Pending school closures are still being fought by parents.

The Strait Regional School Board will have a decision tomorrow on whether H.M. MacDonald Elementary School in Maryvale will stay open.

Parents made a number of presentations to keep the school open.  Members of the School Advisory Council for H.M. MacDonald Elementary have concerns about the process the school board has used to handle the potential closure.
