Calgary Woman Charged in Digby Fraud Case

After a six-month investigation, Nova Scotia RCMP’s Commercial Crime Section has laid 12 charges against a Calgary woman for Fraud, Identity Theft, and Proceeds of Crime. Digby RCMP received a complaint in November 2016, that a business owner’s e-mail had been hacked. The suspects had used the e-mail to re-direct a payment of nearly $52,000.00, for a large piece of equipment, to another destination. Investigators were able to determine the funds went to 30-year-old Tamiko White of Calgary, Alberta. RCMP searched White’s home in Calgary on May 19 and she was arrested later that day. RCMP officers returned her to Nova Scotia for a court appearance on May 24, where she was remanded until her next appearance in Halifax Provincial Court on May 29.
