New Brunswick man drowns in PEI

A New Brunswick man drowned on the north shore of Prince Edward Island at around 5 on Saturday afternoon.

Constable Edison Smith with the Kings District RCMP said the 52 year-old man was pulled out by the current and waves resulting from the high winds in St. Margarets.

Surf conditions were extreme at the time and a strong undertow contributed to both the drowning and the ability to reach the man.

His name has not yet been released.

New Brunswick language divide

New Brunswick polling data suggests that those who speak French as their first language, favour the provincial liberals.

For those whose mother tongue is English, they tend to back the Tories.

Support for the Grits is stronger in the northern part of the province, while the Conservatives are strong in the south.
