New Brunswick man drowns in PEI

A New Brunswick man drowned on the north shore of Prince Edward Island at around 5 on Saturday afternoon.

Constable Edison Smith with the Kings District RCMP said the 52 year-old man was pulled out by the current and waves resulting from the high winds in St. Margarets.

Surf conditions were extreme at the time and a strong undertow contributed to both the drowning and the ability to reach the man.

His name has not yet been released.
