Property tax assessments are being frozen next year. With Auditor General Kim MacPherson’s review expected too late to make changes, the province says the freeze is to ensure fairness and predictability for property owners and local governments. An independent agency will also be created to handle assessments going forward.

Province, First Nations sign memo of understanding for education
The province has signed a memorandum of understanding with seven First Nation communities. It respects their education and the calls to action as set out by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The province and Tobique, Elsipogtog, Esgenoôpetitj, Madawaska, Kingsclear, Oromocto and St. Mary’s First Nations will partner to develop and promote a curriculum.
