Guilty plea in Wylie murder

A Moncton teen has admitted to killing Baylie Wylie in December of 2015 in a Sumac Street triplex.

19 year old Tyler Noel pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and arson after being charged with firtst degree. A sentencing hearing has been set for July. He’s facing a life sentence with no parole for anywhere from 10 to 25 years.

19 year old Devin Morningstar got life with no parole for 25 years after he was found guilty of first degree murder and arson.

Marissa Shephard has waived her right to a preliminary inquiry and will proceed to trial on the same charges.

Harsh criticism of guards at Dorchester

A Correctional Service investigator has slammed the Dorchester Pen over the 2015 death of an inmate.

Ivan Zinger’s report says unnecessary and inappropriate physical and chemical force was used against Matthew Hines when he was beaten and pepper-sprayed by guards when he wouldn’t go back to his cell. Zinger also said there was misleading information given to his family initially about his death.

The Correctional Service of Canada has accepted recommendations in the report and apologized to his family.
