An apology for sexist remarks in legislature

Conservative Leader Blaine Higgs has apologized for comments by three Conservative MLAs about Lisa Harris, the minister responsible for seniors and long term care.

She complained to the speaker that the Tory MLAs’ comments were sexist. Blaine Higgs agrees and apologised saying the comments were not acceptable and he wasn’t going to condone them in any way. He also said he expects his members to meet a higher standard and he will be pointing that out to them in caucas meetings.

Committee recommends expelling senator

A Senate Committee has recommended disgraced senator Don Meredith be expelled because of his sexual relationship with a teenage girl.

His lawyer says Meridith won’t have any comment until he’s had a chance to read the report. Meridith has five days to respond to the senate before it can kick him out…something which has never happened before.
